Jingle Spin Slot - Review of Netent's New Christmas Themed Slot

Christmas is coming in thick and fast (no matter what time of year you are reading this review!), which means it is time to get in the Christmas spirit by playing highly thematic slots like Jingle Spin from NetEnt. You may recall last years Secrets of Christmas slot - but this one has taken the Christmas theme to a whole new level!

How to Play Jingle Spin Slot Machine

Jingle Spin is a 5-reel, 20 payline slot from NetEnt. The minimum bet per spin is 0.40 and the maximum is 200. It is bordering on high volatility, although many people who have played Jingle Spin think it leans a bit closer to the medium volatile side of things.

When we first heard that NetEnt were bringing out Jingle Spin, we had a completely different slot in mind. We figured that Jingle Spin would be a very cartoonish-type of slot. You know, just like every other Christmas-themed slot out there. We were pleasantly surprised.

The theming is wonderful and unique. Sure, you have cartoon versions of Santa in the game, but the amount of detail poured into every aspect makes this a very ‘serious’ slot.

While the game is clearly themed around Christmas, it is not overly so. This means that this is easily one of those slots that you can play at any time of the year. In fact, with the number of features and enjoyment packed into Jingle Spin, we expect that many people will be playing this throughout the year. Just like a puppy; it isn’t just for Christmas.

Bonus Rounds & In Game Features

There are actually quite a few features packed into Jingle Spin, which surprised us (as you are going to be able to tell, we are surprised at lot when it comes to this slot). Most other seasonal-themed slots are just quick remakes of other games.

Given a lick of paint, with the intention of people forgetting about them in a couple of months. Not Jingle Spin. Oh no. It is evident that NetEnt poured a lot of love into this game, and they are in it for the long haul.

Now, on every single spin, you will notice that the little Santa fella will spin a reel. If the reel lands on one of the bauble symbols, then the light on the fifth reel will light up. On each spin, this light will move one position to the left. Santa will keep spinning his reel, potentially adding more lights to the reels.

Now, this is where stuff gets awesome.
If you get a wild symbol on the same reel where the bauble is currently lit up, you will get one of four different features. The feature that is triggered will be dependent on the bauble that is lit up. It could be:

  • Spreading wild: all adjacent and diagonal symbols will become wilds.
  • Free spins: you will get between 7 and 50 free spins (yes, you read that right!)
  • Coin win feature: you will get up to 125x your stake.
  • Surprise: just one of the three features above.

The free spins is the most lucrative feature in this game. It is a shame that it does not trigger that often. However, we do want to point out that during the free spins mode, Santa isn’t going to stop spinning his little reel, which means you could be dealing with feature after feature during this game mode. It actually makes up for the fact that this game is lacking any sort of multiplier.

Jingle Spin Mobile Slot Machine

We were a little bit fearful that Jingle Spin wouldn’t work well on mobile devices. This is because there is quite a bit of detail going on around the reels (it helps with the features), but it does.

Even on the smaller screens, NetEnt have made it work. Actually makes us feel a little bit bad for doubting NetEnt in the first place, because they have shown repeatedly that they know how to make a game actually look good for mobile. It isn’t even a large download size.

Summary – What Do We Think?

This game is amazing. Even if you are playing in the middle of Summer, this game is going to be just as amazing. It isn’t just for Christmas. The features are highly engaging, and the game looks good. There is a sense of excitement on each and every spin. What is not to love about that?
